The Ofrenda lab and PASA co-create ANTH Dept annual Altar
Dr. Lopez, the Ofrenda Lab Director, collaborated with PASA to assemble the Department of Anthropology's 4th Annual Community Ofrenda/Altar for Día de Muertos. Altar building, memorializing the dead, and processing experiences of loss are key components of community strength and community healing. Building this altar has become a beloved annual tradition for the department, and Dr. Lopez is happy that this year, PASA has co-sponsored the efforts and co-built the altar!
Members of the Department will be adding to the altar over the next few weeks and are invited to bring pictures, notes, flowers, sweet snacks, or any other item for the altar. There is also paper and markers available for people to leave notes on the altar, in addition to more traditional items.
On October 27th, from 11-1pm, PASA will be hosting time for community paper flower making. Supplies will be provided! See flyer below for more details. These additional flowers can be placed on the altar or used for other Día de Muertos activities.
